It Pays To Be Humble
In the world of human transactions, is it necessary to conduct them with an ego, or humility? While we as human beings struggle with desires to feel important, in control, in demand, etc., what do we gain by believing we’re the most important person in the world? In my opinion, nothing.
Certainly, ego is part of human nature, but it doesn’t need to rule our existence as individuals. Egos are especially prevalent in highly-visible roles such an executive, entertainer, television personality, etc. While its natural (and easy) to become overwhelmed (and controlled) by these roles, its important to perform a self-check, and return to reality for the sake of being human.
The unfortunate part in this is that some people refuse to check their egos, and like a flower, they blossom into things much bigger than one can handle, all while losing focus of themselves and any amount of humility they had. Thus, you’ve got one big monster that’s raging out of control, becoming the boss of your personality, decisions, thoughts, and eventually, the ruler of your life.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be ruled by my ego. I’d rather be humble in everything I do, as I believe the rewards are greater and more satisfying. What do you think?
