Google Desktop 4.5 Now Available
Google announced today version 4.5 of its popular Google Desktop application. The newest feature is a polished and streamlined “sidebar” which features a translucent background. Quite attractive!
From Google Desktop’s website:
“Google Desktop gives you easy access to information on your computer and from the web. It’s a desktop search application that provides full text search over your email, files, music, photos, chats, Gmail, web pages that you’ve viewed, and more. By making your computer searchable, Google Desktop puts your information easily within your reach and frees you from having to manually organize your files, emails and bookmarks. It makes searching your computer as easy as searching the web with Google.
Google Desktop doesn’t just help you search your computer; it also helps you gather new information from the web Sidebar and Google Gadgets, which can be placed anywhere on your desktop to show you new email, weather, stock information, photos, personalized news, RSS/Atom feeds, and more. Sidebar is personalized automatically, without any manual configuration required (though you can certainly make your own customizations if you want to or turn off automatic personalization).”
The “Dark Side” of Married Women
I stumbled upon a blog today. It’s about selfish, deceiving, immoral and dishonest married women confessing their adultery anonymously to a global audience. Yet another awakening for me. True Wife Confessions is an eyeful. Sometimes graphic, but the common thread is that these women are cheaters.
Rather than be held accountable for their actions, they all choose to place blame on their spouses instead. That’s really smart. Not!
Look, folks, there is a thing called “communication”. The solution isn’t emotional and physical affairs. However, they are occurring at an alarming rate these days, thanks to the Internet bringing the world to our fingertips. It’s easier than ever now to cheat.
Unfortunately, I know this type of woman very well. I do not wish the experience upon anyone — not even an ant. I count my blessings everyday for growing stronger and wiser, for these women will destroy a man and everything he is. Confidence? Gone. Security? Gone. Pride? Gone. Love? Gone. Essentially, your manhood is reduced to tiny particles of nothingness. And “when a man loves a woman”, he is sometimes blind and cannot see.
However, there are men like myself who reemerge as warriors. We’ve fought the battle. We’ve taken direct hits without armor. We’ve surrendered fighting at the first sign of a truce, only to be tricked again. Eventually, we stop fighting. We soon realize that the fight is no longer to our benefit and go our own way.
Men and women who supposedly love their mates — while deceiving them at every turn — are like parasites on a dog. They serve no greater purpose than to feed their own self-serving desires in life. Good riddance to them all.
A Salute To Great Women
Contrary to popular belief (and I’ve been guilty of this as well), I know first hand that great women do exist. They are selfless, caring, considerate, respectful, attentive and kind. They are wonderful women in their own right, and I feel fortunate to know these women.
So, I salute the following as great women in my life:
- Mom - I don’t always agree with her, yet she instilled in me a priceless gift: Love
- Grandma and “Momma Lou” - Very wise women in their own right … I’ve learned so much just by listening … it’s a blessing to still have both of my grandmothers
- “Mom” - She will always be my “other” mom … in heart, in life, in spirit, in mind
- Delores - I’d often spend time at her house as a kid … and her mother (who I referred to as “grandma”) is such a sweet and amazing woman
- Ms. Henderson - A very warm and courageous woman … I grew up with her sons as a kid
- Karen and Arin - They’re like the sisters I never had … I miss you guys … soon enough
- Jen - A newcomer, but she has already proven herself to be a great friend
- Adi - She’s always been there for me, even when I neglected our friendship to respect my commitment to a relationship
- Elizabeth - She’s awesome … hilarious … such a cool friend
- Helena - Always a pleasure to talk to
- Jese - A very optimistic woman … certainly an inspiration to my life
- Lesley - I’ve known her forever it seems …
Finally, I send my love to two wonderful “little ladies”, Shanice and Tianna. They are unique and special in their own right. And they’re so intelligent for their ages! They’re not my blood, but my love for them is thicker than water. They are the epitome of angels. They always gave me a sense of hope when I otherwise lacked it.
I know I probably forgot a few people, but that’s okay. They know I love them! ![]()
Wal-Mart: Cheap Plastics Will Ruin Water Quality
In all of my years of blogging, I haven’t once commented about Wal-Mart. Frankly, Wal-Mart has never given me reason to, until now. Earlier this week, I purchased a 2.5 gallon container of spring water. Anxious to quench my thirst, I quickly filled my cup.
“Yuck!” …
… was my reaction after taking a swig of the water. The aftertaste was horrible. I’ve never experienced such bad quality in any bottled water — Wal-Mart branded or not. What happened?
Now that I think of it, I recall my friend bringing to my attention the basket which contained these containers of water. It was loaded full of these 2.5 gallon containers, presented in a “hey-you-pick-me-up-now” kind of way. Was this a bad batch of water knowingly sold to the consumer? Or, was it just sheer luck that I’d be drinking plastic — literally?
Either way, cheap plastics will always ruin the quality of water. I am surprised, Wal-Mart. Very surprised.
Digg for Bloggers
Bloggers: We are lacking a “fair and balanced” tool for the dissemination of our content.
Digg is out. So is Newsvine and every other website which relies upon a community of users, because as I’ve discovered, when you arm “Web 2.0 jocks” with too many tools, you effectively encourage great abuse.
So, what is the solution? There are many a great bloggers breaking new and interesting stories, have great original content, but unfortunately, lack appropriate venues for fair and unbiased distribution of their work.
Yes, there’s Technorati and Google Blog Search. However, they do not solve the problem of “fair and balanced”. I guess a “digg for bloggers” would be ideal, but without everything digg is known for.
So, let’s think out loud. Or, is there something I’ve overlooked? Let me know.
