I don’t watch much TV, and I chose an interesting day not to have one on. I had quite the “disconnected” day and I didn’t hear about the news on Wall Street until 10:00 this evening when I tuned in CNBC’s “The Big Idea” to find a special segment of “On The Money”, where the beautiful Erin Burnett was helping out with live coverage of the day’s shock in the stock market.
There were also a few other CNBC regulars for this special coverage including Kudlow and Company’s Larry Kudlow. It almost turned into a shouting match at one point but I turned the channel. I actually thought they were acting like kids at that point.
What caught my ear during this special coverage is how the stock exchanges’ computer systems failed under load to process all of the selloffs in the market — that’s embarrassing for America’s stock market and will undoutedly raise questions about the capacity of our technology to handle future transactions on this level.
Anyway, I hope everyone recovers from the events of the day. I’ve been hearing that we’ve gone 45 months without any major change on the Dow, and that this was needed. Hmmm. I’m not a stock expert.
