A North American Community: Integration is a MUST
I am breaking my silence to support three proposed ideas which will combine the United States, Canada and Mexico (not included in UNA) under either a regional government and/or community:
* Jonathan Wheelwright’s United North America
* Dr. Robert A. Pastor’s ‘North American Community‘
* The Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America (some consider this the prelude to the North American Union, which would be similar to that of the European Union)
Prior to discovering these proposals for the integration of North American countries more than a year ago, I for years believed that the arbitrary lines separating the United States, Canada and Mexico were not only absurd, but irrelevant and inefficient as well. My desire to see our North American continent wholly integrated as a single entity became evermore clear to me during frequent visits to Canada over the past few years.
The bigger picture here is that we must begin the work to tear down the “imaginative divide” that we created during the “founding” of our continent. While I do not agree with the concept of government, I do agree that we must realize a North American continent that is no longer separated by divisive and destructive policies which harm our competitiveness and efficiency in the growing global markets.
However, reuniting our torn continent isn’t about global competition alone. It’s about strengthening our land, its people and our future. I have long been a proponent of all things which will erase division among human beings, and if creating a North American Community (or Union) will achieve this, I am in full support of it.
Unfortunately, there are many opponents of the proposed ideas above. Many feel that their country’s sovereignty will be wiped away and long forgotten. Of course, I disagree with most of the opponent’s concerns — as most of them would also disagree with my support of the unification of North America. Let’s face the facts: We can no longer avoid this from happening. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not.
It’s time to put an end to simple thinking in North America. It’s time to put an end to “make believe” division of land and people. It’s time to return to the roots of this continent’s innocence — a time where there was no Canada, United States and Mexico — only a common region with common people. We all share a bond here. Let’s embrace it for the good of everyone.
I Re-Invent … Again
In the next few days (and weeks), you’re going to see changes here at Ronald Lewis Dot Com. They are being made to reflect a new phase in my life — one which centers around my happiness and desires. For too long, I have sacrificed my life for everyone else. I have walked on egg shells, kept thoughts to myself and tried not to offend anyone with my true feelings, etc. I have tried to be everyone’s best friend, confidant, trustworthy partner and everything else a caring and respectful person can be.
Even with my own web site — a place I come to for reflection — I have felt enslaved to the idea that I should do what I felt others deemed as correct and right. And after 27 long years of pleasing every damn body else, I have finally reached my boiling point: I don’t fucking care what everyone else wants. And I mean it. What about Ron? What about what I want? What about what I feel? What about my joy and happiness? What about me? My downfall in life has always been that I cared about everything, everybody and what they felt. Most of everything I’ve done in my life was decided around the consideration of others. Had I lived like most folks do in life, I’m sure my experiences and overall happiness over the years would have been 10 times better today.
I am tired of everything and everyone that is selfish and inconsiderate. I am tired of trying to make everyone else happy and satisfied. I am tired of trying to respect everyone out of courtesy and respect, when little is ever given to me personally. I am tired of “kissing ass” to land a deal, sponsor or anything else I’ve been trying for the past 13 years to achieve another level of success in my life.
I am tired of stressing about how fucked up the world and its people are and what I can do to make it better. No one really fucking cares, and why should I? Why should I stress myself to find out ways to make the world better, when people are too damn busy thinking of themselves? Why should I take time out of my day to engage people about all that’s wrong in the world?
Now with the burden of truth off of my chest, I welcome you to 24/7 with Ronald Lewis. The new name reflects the fact that life is non-stop and always evolving — just like mine, yours and everyone else’s. It also better conveys who I am as an individual and human being. It is also the start doing what pleases me, and not others, here on my own web site and in my life in general.
What does this change mean for existing and new readers?
It means it’s no longer about you, but me. I’ve long been a slave to what everyone else wanted — those days are done. It means that it’s no longer about standards and what’s deemed “right”, for if we had any reasonable standards and values in life — much of everything that’s wrong would be right — wouldn’t it? It means that I stand alone and on my own with my beliefs about life and everything I am passionate about. It means that everything in my life is on the same page and according to how I see fit.
New topics, categories and content will be added in the coming weeks. They will cover everything from politics to technology — for my life and who I am cannot be bottled up and labeled to please anyone — I am far too diverse for that and this web site — a personal gateway to my life — must closely match all that I am and who I am.
Already, I am starting to feel a big burden released from my shoulders — a burden which I’ve carried for years at my own expense. It’s now my time to shine and live my life — it’s time to spread my wings and be true to myself. It’s time to stop worrying about everything and everyone else and just relish in my own happiness and joy once and for all. This is the key to complete and total happiness in my own life.
Peace.
Poor Judgment Will Cost You
If there’s anything I know all too well, it’s that poor judgment will cost you — a lot! “All that glitters isn’t gold” — When you’re bitten once, you damn well shouldn’t attempt the same thing twice. Today, rapper Akon apologized for performing a sexual maneuver on a fan who was later confirmed to be underage.
What did this cost Akon? Verizon Wireless, a multi-billion dollar communications company, pulled out of their sponsorship of his current tour. And, after the video of this incident circulated around the Internet, it caused a lot of embarrassment for the artist. Was a few minutes of onstage antics worth all of this to impress his audience? I think not.
While it was noble of Akon to apologize to his fans and the media for this, I seriously doubt much harm was done — I’m quite sure the 14 year old girl is well versed in “sexology” and probably has already had a few partners at her age. Call me an ass, or whatever, but I am about sick and tired of young women in North America being portrayed as “victims”.
Oh, and let’s not even begin to discuss the R. Kelly debacle.
The bottom line is that “up and coming” and established men of any industry need to stop screwing up when it comes to women. It is not only an embarrassment to them, but to an entire gender that’s already unfairly targeted in society with bullshit divorce and child custody laws, unrealistic expectations by the opposite gender and more.
Stop the nonsense already, men. We can do better than this.
April Fool’s Joke in May
For most of April, I received several inquiries and kudos for my announcement of Microsoft sponsoring my Interviews Podcast. What few people didn’t realize is that I made the announcement on April 1st — April Fool’s Day here in America. April Fool’s (for those who don’t know) has been a long tradition of telling jokes to the unsuspecting public.
So, while I rarely partake in most traditions (no, I’m not a Muslim, Jehovah’s Witness or anything of the like), I decided to have a little fun to create a little buzz around the podcast. So, the word is out: There was never a sponsorship to begin with. It was just a joke. I haven’t struck gold, and I’m not rich (yet).
I am really surprised that more people didn’t realize it was a joke, considering the day it was posted. Even Google was in on the act — which they’ve done for many years now. When a sponsor does step forward, believe me — there will be fireworks here on Ronald Lewis Dot Com. It will be a celebration we can all take part in.
