CNBC and ‘American Greed’
On June 21, CNBC will launch “American Greed,” a primetime series on greed in America. Hopefully, it will also expose the greed of Corporate America, too.
THE SCAMS, THE SCHEMES, THE BROKEN DREAMS… Some people will do anything for money.
CNBC’s “American Greed,” an unprecedented original primetime series, examines the dark side of the American Dream — cases of Identity theft, medical scams, million dollar art heists, and daring bank robberies.
BlogTV Live Player Now Available!
Prior to its official release, BlogTV co-founder Nir sent the embeddable code for my testing. So, I’ve goofed around with it, and decided today to officially include it in a post. I’m not quite sure which live player I’ll use as my preferred video applet to broadcast from, though — BlogTV, UStream and Mogulus all provide compelling players.
UStream upgrades broadcast applet; 30fps now possible
Two weeks and counting — That’s the amount of time I’ve spent streaming my life 24/7 (well, not entirely, but mostly). It has been a period of experimentation, curiosity and education. I’ve been broadcasting my life via UStream, BlogTV and Mogulus (the newest lineup in my broadcast toolbox).
One thing I felt UStream lacked in was overall video quality and streaming stability. Well, recently, UStream upgraded their applet to include granular controls such as stream quality, frame rate, and device selection all in one easy location. Now, you can control not only the quality of your video, but your audio as well. The CD-quality (44Khz) rating for audio sounds AMAZING. It’s the best sound quality I’ve ever heard (well, I guess it does help that I use a great studio mic).
So, while UStream hasn’t mentioned this yet, I’m sure they will soon — and, of course, the legions of UStream fans are certainly aware of this very important upgrade, too. This type of fine control will separate UStream by “leaps and bounds” from its competition. Hopefully, they will follow suit as well.
CNBC’s Erin Burnett to Replace Maria Bartiromo?
There’s been much speculation over the rising visibility of Erin Burnett on NBC’s CNBC business news network. As Broadcasting & Cable reports, it’s possible that CNBC is grooming Burnett as Bartiromo’s replacement. Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: There are enough egos in media, so one less is always a good thing.
Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel Resigns
Broke first on CNBC, Yahoo! confirms the departure of CEO Terry Semel in press release. TechCrunch, Mashable, ValleyWag and Yahoo!’s own Yang all weigh in on the news.
Personally, no Hollywood exec is ever a good fit for an Internet company. Yahoo! was once the darling of all Internet companies, and it has since given its throne to Google, and eventually — Microsoft (who, at some point, will probably acquire the company).
