XC60: Volvo Officially Unveils It’s First Crossover SUV

Posted February 20th, 2008 in Random by Ronald Lewis

It’s official: Volvo has released details about its forthcoming crossover SUV, the XC60. Billed as Volvo’s safest vehicle yet, the company issued a press release today ahead of the XC60′s Geneva debut:

Volvo’s new XC60 crossover steps boldly into what is the motoring world’s toughest and fastest-growing segment – the “Small Premium Utility.” It blends a dynamic mix of two styles. Down below, the unmistakeable, immensely capable XC pumps its muscles. Up top, the daring lines create the elegant, sporty charisma of a coupe.

“This car is charged with more emotive form and more energy than any other Volvo,” says Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin. “We’re elevating our design DNA to an entirely new level by literally turning up the visual volume. If you say that you’d recognise a Volvo from 300 feet away today, I dare say the XC60 radiates a clear Volvo presence from at least twice that distance.”

What Does Love Look Like?

If one could describe ‘love,’ what would it look like? Is it rolling green hills? Mountains? An orchard? What’s your take?

This Is Me, America

Posted February 19th, 2008 in Random by Ronald Lewis

America,

We have a misunderstanding. A serious one. One which has been the cause of much frustration, grief and anger over the years. It’s your misunderstanding of who I am and your lack of understanding to respect my wishes. You see, America, you want me to be someone I’m not. You want to group me into a category and label me. I’m not having it.

I do not desire to be “socially” or “politically correct,” because social concepts are irrelevant in a reality which most do not comprehend. I want to be me. An individual. A human being. A man.

I do not want to be Black. I do not want to be African-American. Each morning I see myself, I see none of these things. I see a brown-skinned man with American citizenship — No hypenation necessary. Since when did I invite you to tell me things I’m not? Did I ask you to refer to me as a color which doesn’t match my skin tone? Did I ask you to dilute my citizenship with a relationship to a country I’ve never visited?

Do you see where I’m going, America? (Or, perhaps you don’t, and that’s fine — Because I understand the impact of social constructs and how they block our ability to think logically).

We needn’t have a conversation, become friends, do business or prosper together if you see me as any of the things I detest in society. I have no desire to partake in social constructs such as race, religion and so on. If more people understood what I do (and have been understanding for a long time now), more people would feel the exact same way.

I am tired of being told who I am by societyI am here to tell you what I’m not.

Again, I know this is a complex concept for most in our country to understand. Some of you are probably confused, while some are grasping the simpleness of this quest for liberation of social enslavement. I have been fighting against the majority of social constructs for many years now — and I continue to fight. I refuse to be a sheep, idol puppet or drone. I will tell you the truth and I will not apologize to anyone for my untainted and logical approach to living life.

Hillary Clinton’s Campaign is Pathetic

Posted February 18th, 2008 in All, Politics & Government, Random by Ronald Lewis

Let it be known that I’ve never cared much for Hillary Clinton’s values. Even when she first entered the White House with her husband, Bill Clinton, I viewed her like most other politicians in public office: A traditional puppet. Hillary’s mudslinging against Obama has intensified to silly proportions that her campaign is becoming laughable at best.

If Hillary actually cared about leading this nation to prosperity, she’d spend her time on promoting her “35 years of experience” to the American public and passionately delivering what’s most important to her on the campaign trail. One thing I never liked about politics is the childish behavior exhibited when candidates attempt to dig up dirt and throw mud at their rivals: What’s the point, really?

If Hillary was confident enough in her campaign and strategy, she wouldn’t result to the pathetic tactics of late to dethrone the rising success of her rival. It’s really that simple. This isn’t about America — It’s about Hillary, for if it truly were the former, she’d focus on just that.

Personally, I am fed up with politics altogether in our country. We need to fire our government and politicians, and replace everyone with something that actually makes sense.

2008 and Beyond: One Big Life, Imagination

Posted February 18th, 2008 in Random by Ronald Lewis

Big thoughts and ideas have landed me in interesting places, conversations and opportunities over the years. The one thing I always tell people is to have a huge imagination with even bigger ideas. Our ideas and imagination are what propels us to move forward, conquer new territory and live out our greatest dreams.

Certainly, my imagination is always vivid and I’ve been taking trips to my childhood even to reignite some misfiring “dream cylinders.” While time is only a concept of the mind, let this be the act of liberating my imagination to really go wild:

1. Traveling to and living in countries such as Japan, China, United Kindgom, Australia, Africa, Estonia and elsewhere

2. Maintaining homes throughout North America (Denver, Calgary, Detroit, Nashville, Austin, Vancouver) and other regions throughout the world

3. Driving my favorite vehicles (and not for show, but pure enjoyment): Volvo XC90 and S80

4. Frequent visits with family and friends all around the world

5. Frequent indulging of movies, great food and events

As of this writing, I’m feeling like a big kid with a ton of inspiration. There are so many things I’m ready to do and will be able to do before long. The key is taking ownership of the things you desire and creating the mentality that you are everything you will achieve.
