BREAKING
Update: As of 1:42 AM Mountain, Spottt has removed the text file containing dozens of e-mail addresses from their site. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done. Too little, too late.
It seems some things are always ripe for the picking: TechCrunch recently covered AdBrite’s new upcoming link exchange service, Spottt. It’s like the former LinkExchange, but supposedly better. Intrigued, I added my e-mail address to be notified of its launch.
Just minutes ago, I noticed visitors from WhoFailedToday.com. It turns out that AdBrite’s upcoming service has a flaw which saves all recent signups for the service to a text file directly on its web site. How stupid is that?
In addition to exposing my e-mail address and dozens more, contents of my web site have also been posted as well at WhoFailed in this discussion thread. I was kindly referred to by one anonymous user as a “Narcissistic Nigger” (I love how society continues to use labels which are irrelevant to my identity — I’m neither “Black” nor “African-American”).
I think it’s safe to say that I won’t be using this service when it launches. Thanks for the the unneeded spam, AdBrite.
