Here’s another testament to the power of blogging: In the Internet world, it’s all about rankings, just like on TV. Today, I discovered that my blog ranks #1 out of more than 9.5 Million results (including Oprah.com) for events related to daytime TV star Oprah Winfrey. I stumbled upon this news while browsing visitor stats for my web site, ronaldlewis.com. The blog entry is related to the performance by superstar Michael McDonald, who was the entertainer for last year’s “Oprah’s Legends Ball” (USA Today story) in Santa Barbara, California — a star-studded event celebrating the lives of some amazing women of our time.
So, how was this ranking achieved? I honestly couldn’t tell you, and that’s quite sad. I guess its been years of updating my web site and adding content. Who really knows? It’s a ranking I’m quite proud of given that people do this stuff for a living.
Perhaps I should consider entering the search engine optimization (SEO) business, eh?
