For most people, ‘home’ is a foundation — a stationary place to rejuvenate, relax, and share intimate moments with a significant other, family, and friends. It’s an environment we feel most comfortable in, and are most familiar with. Like most people, I held to these same beliefs too, until reading an article in 2005 which changed my view of ‘home’.
In a nutshell, the article stated that ‘home’ could be anywhere, and how true that is. In the last five years alone, I’ve lived in Nashville, Tennessee; Denver, Colorado and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Prior to these places, I lived in my hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where I resided until I was 21.
Like the movie “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” I now realize that ‘home’ is what you make of it — wherever you are, be it a hotel, condo, your SO’s home, etc. You define and create your own home, your own sacred garden, regardless of time, place, or location. It’s a mental thing.
