The inaugural Voice 2.0 Conference held in Ottawa, ON, Canada on October 16, 2006 was a smashing success! It exceeded all of my expectations of what a telephony conference
(Jim Van Meggelen and I discussing telecom, Asterisk, and other fun stuff on Sunday night during the pre-conference “meet & greet” at a local Ottawa pub – Thanks to Alec Saunders for this photo)
should be. It was engaging, thought-provoking, and revolutionary. The panels and discussions were world-class — not only in content, but those represented (Microsoft Research’s Bill Buxton, former Sprint guru Martin Geddes, etc.)
I’m still “catching” up on some much needed rest (I had an 18 hour round trip drive between Detroit and Ottawa … got home early Tuesday morning after a rainy night of Canadian and American weather), but it was worth it for a PRICELESS event!
Some of the folks I had the great pleasure of meeting: Alec Saunders and Steve Lecomte – Iotum; Jim Van Meggelan; Joe Burton and Greg Pelton – Cisco; Ross MacLeod (host and organizer); “Team OCRI”; Martin Geddes; and many others! (Click here to view complete bios and other info)
Here are some great conference highlights by Alec Saunders and Angel.com’s Sam Aparicio; I’ll add more of these highlights soon.(L-R: Bill St-Arnaud – CANARIE, Martin Geddes – Telepocalypse, Stephane Monette – Unlimitel)
Finally, as a proud supporter of the conference, it was beyond rewarding to see the Interviews podcast represented on all of the conference’s material (handouts, display boards, etc.) — it’s by far the best endorsement to date of the work which has gone into making the podcast what it is today. Many thanks to Steve Lecomte of Iotum and Ross McLeod.
