It seems I now have another issue to contend with on my second iPhone: White dots (dead pixels) sprinkled about on its display. I noticed the defect earlier this week while scrolling through my list of applications. There’s about 4-5 of them currently and they’re visible only at an angle. Of course, I’ll be in contact with Apple soon to figure out a strategy to rectify this defect.
I’m sure I’m not alone with this issue. Anyone else?
Update: Apple replaced my iPhone — no questions asked!
Update (9-12-08 10:25AM Mountain): I’m updating my iPhone’s firmware to 2.1 and I’ve confirmed there’s a large number of white dots / dead pixels scattered about. It’s a little disappointing to see this in a phone that’s not even two months old, but it’s not the end of the world. Regardless, I do want Apple to replace this unit.








I’ve had the new iPhone 3GS for a couple of weeks. It has a white dot/pixel. I plan to bring it back in to AT&T but the customer service there is at best poor. When I upgrade, they changed my plan & charged me for the change. We don’t have an apple store so when I get over the irritation I will head over to AT&T.
i just returned mine for a speaker problem and they gave me another one ..and i have a white dot pixel too that is not COOL! i just noticed it today

I did replace my second iPhone. Now, I’m on my third, and it too has a few dead pixels. This is going to be a tough one for Apple to deal with.
If you can take it back to Apple, do it! I think the return process is better (and faster)!

I have exactly the same problem I got my 6th apple iphone 3g today as a replacement, all the others had white stuck pixels and ive opened the box and I was just upgrading the software when I noticed that this also has two stuck white pixels and light leakage on the left hand side between the chrome bezel and the screen. I am so disappointed in Apple, their quality standards are really very poor indeed, let me know what happened with yours mate and if you finally got a replacement which was perfect? I’m thinking about taking it back to Apple tomorrow instead of O2 UK as every replacement I get from there is exactly the same.
